La Boussole, a key player in the associative fabric of Greater Vancouver, meets the Consul General of France following a grant awarded to support its activities. [fr]

During our visit to the offices of the La Boussole association, Nicolas Baudouin, Consul General of France in Vancouver, and Jennifer Lacoste, Deputy Consul, were welcomed by Richard Hojjat, the director of this organization. Together, they reviewed current challenges, ongoing projects, and observed the notable progress of the association since May, particularly due to its innovative initiatives.

Since its inception, the association has dedicated itself to assisting and supporting the residents, especially French speakers in precarious situations. Its efforts in integration, education, and well-being are relentless, strengthening solidarity while highlighting French as a vital tool for mutual aid and cohesion in Greater Vancouver.

In this regard, the organization received a grant from the Support System for the Association Fabric of the French Abroad (STAFE), backed by the Consulate.

Since May, La Boussole has further structured its activities. Among the innovations, the solidarity thrift store "Ensemble" stands out. Emphasizing a 100% digital model, this thrift store has adopted a "click and collect" system for its sales. The items, worn and photographed by volunteers using professional equipment provided by La Boussole, are then posted online.

The funds raised are used to finance various actions, including psychological support sessions for the beneficiaries.

La Boussole, more than just a haven for distressed French speakers, is a key player in the solidarity ecosystem of Greater Vancouver, especially in the fight against the opioid crisis, which the Consulate is proud to support.
