The official Bastille Day reception

The official Bastille Day reception, organized on July 11th, a few days’ notice, by the Consulate General of France in Vancouver at the Vancouver University Women’s Club, was attended by almost 160 people.

Sunshine, music, and a friendly atmosphere… all of these ingredients came together for this celebration of France’s national holiday and of Franco-Canadian friendship.

Two VIP guests spoke following the Canadian and French national anthems:

- Mr. Christophe Alemalama, Deputy Consul and head of the French consulate since Ms. Evelyne Decorps, the former Consul General of France to Vancouver, accepted the position of Ambassador of France to Chad.

- Mr. Norm Letnick, parliamentary secretary to British Columbia Premier Christy Clark.

This was followed by a performance by singer Julia Morgan and pianist Miguel Brito, thanks to the generous contributions of the Vancouver International Song Institute.
