Apollinaire and others set to the music of Poulenc
Following the great success of the Debussy birthday concert last year, the Vancouver International Song Institute (VISI) celebrated the music of Francis Poulenc with a splendid cabaret concert on June 21st.
An international array of singers and pianists, as well as students from the VISI programme, sang poems by Apollinaire, Eluard, Louise de Vilmorin and others set to the music of Poulenc.
Each June, VISI welcomes young singers and pianists from around the world to study Art Song with internationally renowned musicians, scholars and teachers.
The Mélodie française programme has been a core feature since the beginning of the Institute in 2008.
