Second Paris Peace Forum 2019 [fr]
After the first Paris Peace Forum in November 2018, this year’s event was held from 11 to 13 November 2019, at the Grande Halle de La Villette, Paris.
The Paris Peace Forum continues to work as a force for mobilization – bringing together all stakeholders – and as an incubator to drive concrete global governance solutions to address the ongoing challenges concerning world order and attacks on multilateralism.
The second edition of the Paris Peace Forum resonated on an international scale, further confirming the necessity of this truly unique gathering of actors to focus on concrete solutions to the greatest challenges facing the world today.
The Paris Peace Forum is part of the momentum launched by French President, Emmanuel Macron, to reaffirm the importance of multilateralism and collective action in facing current challenges.
The second Paris Peace Forum featured the same elements that made the first forum a successful and unique event with the same:
- objectives: encouraging international cooperation and collective action for a peaceful world;
- approaches: presentations, discussions and progress on innovative, real-world solutions;
- ambitions: enhancing, rethinking or creating new rules, standards and best practices.
The call for projects aims to identify projects and initiatives led by various players in global governance which may be advanced in the design phase or the beginning of the implementation phase.
The Paris Peace Forum is designed to be an incubator to drive global governance solutions centred around six themes:
peace and security,
the inclusive economy,
culture and education (new theme for 2019).
This unique event will be an opportunity for project leaders to meet leaders and potential partners, speak with participants from around the world and benefit from media attention.
The Forum is chaired by Pascal Lamy. Justin Vaïsse has been appointed Managing Director of the Forum and will take over on 18 March 2019.
