Knight of the French Legion of Honor medal to three WWII veterans [fr]
On December 10th and 11th, 2017, Consul General Philippe Sutter awarded three WWII veterans the Knight of the French Legion of Honor medal, by decree of French Republic President Mr Emmanuel Macron.
Mr Virgil Edward Billesberger (94 years-old) took part in August 1944 Normandy’s landing.
The ceremony took place at the Royal Canadian Legion – Lynn Valley Branch in Vancouver, BC, in presence of the French veterans association in BC, M. Philippe Bruneel.
Mr. David Clifford McMurray (95 years-old) also took part in August 1944 Normandy’s landing. The ceremony was held at his home, also in presence of Mr. Philippe Bruneel.
Mr. Kenneth John Brind (95 years-old) took part in numerous air operations in France in 1944.
The ceremony took place at the « Legion Manor Victoria » in Saanichton, BC.
On this occasion, Consul General Mr. Sutter also paid hommage to veteran Mr. Reginald William Price (96 years-old), already Knight of the French Legion of Honor.
