Hannoun, 1972–2009 from Taysir Batniji, recreated for MOA from April 20th
Safar/Voyage will be the first major exhibition of contemporary art from the territories of the Middle East to be shown in Vancouver. It is constructed as a journey in the company of 16 artists, each of whom is neither fixed inside these regions nor permanently diasporic. Taysir Batniji, born in 1966 in Gaza, and now lives and works in Paris has recreated Hannoun, 1972–2009 especially for MOA from April 20, 2013 – September 15, 2013. Consul general of France supports this exhibition.

After receiving his BA from An-Najah National University, Nablus, Palestine, Taysir Batniji received a Diplôme National Supérieur d’Expression Plastique from the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Bourges, and a Post-Diplôme from the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Marseille.
His solo exhibitions have featured in Paris, Hamburg and Rotterdam, while his work has appeared in group exhibitions in Frankfurt, Rome and Istanbul.
