Guests from all horizons at the celebrations of our National Day [fr]
In the presence of Ministers Bruce Ralston (Jobs, Trade, and Technology) and Adrian Dix (Health and Francophone Affairs), Consul General, Philippe Sutter, had the pleasure to welcome close to 120 guests at the celebration of France’s National Day: Canadian partners, members from the French community and the consular corps.
This reception took place as part of the Bastille Day celebrations arranged by the Bastille Day Festival association, at the Yaletown Roundhouse in Vancouver.
Address by Consul General, Philippe Sutter
Highlighting the growing number of exchanges between France and the province of BC in numerous fields, Philippe Sutter thanked each partner and invited them to develop further more cooperations, more ambitious, by innovating.
Similarly, M. Ralston spoke, including in French, about the importance of ties between BC and Europe and France. He mentioned that CETA holds an array of opportunities.
In a moving ceremony, Consul General welcomed two new French citizens into the community before everyone sang the national anthem « La Marseillaise ».
In his concluding remarks, Consul General invited everyone to support the football national team which was to play the World Cup finals the following day.
