France decorates 8 Canadian veterans

On VE Day that marks the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Nazi Germany’s unconditional surrender of its armed forces on 8 May 1945, the French Consul General bestowed 8 Legions of Honour, France’s highest distinction to 8 Canadian veterans that landed on Normandy beaches in June 1944.

Mike De Jong, BC Finance minister and the families of the veterans all gathered at the ceremony that was held at the fairmont Hotel on April 16, 2015.
