FAST !: a new workshop dedicated to Arctic and Global Change
In the frame of the France-Alberta Science and Technology Initiative (FAST) jointly launched in 2011 by the University of Alberta (UofA, Edmonton) and the Science and Technology Office of the Embassy of France in Ottawa, a new workshop entitled “Arctic Signature of Global Change” will be held in Edmonton on February 14-15, 2013.
For this occasion, a selected group of research scientists from Canada, France and Germany have been invited to attend the workshop. It is a follow-up on the FAST! activities in the area of Arctic, Mountains, Glaciology and Global Change.
FAST! is a cooperative program aiming to develop research projects between Alberta and France in 4 predefined scientific fields : Energy, Nanotechnologies, Arctic Mountains Glaciology Global Change, and Virology.
A first opus was organized in Paris in Dec., 2011, during which 15 professors of UofA were invited to discuss the priorities to give to this project, and took the opportunity to visit some of our best French labs and universities. The second action was to focus on the “Energy” thematic, and this was realized by the organization of a workshop in Edmonton on August, 2012.
This third activity will be the occasion to exchange on Global change and Arctic, two important priorities of both Canadian and French governments.
